BLOG #8: The End

Matt redman & the gang

AUGUST 2012 For the final time: “Hello and welcome to my blog!” I packed up, moved out and now I’m back in sunny Warrington. It’s been an exciting journey with Worship Central in London; but for now, God is calling me to the North West. I’ve got far too much to say but I’ll try to squeeze the highlights of July, my future and farewells as best as I can. In July, my parents and Sam came to visit me on the final weekend of the Academy. Fortunately for us it was Wimbledon too… we simply had to go! Not even the rain could dampen our spirits, check us out:          …

BLOG #7: The end is nigh

Tim Hughes

JUNE 2012 Hello and welcome to what is probably my penultimate blog! The end is in sight and I have been really busy of late, but I still found time to write to you. This month I’ll be informing you about the events in May and updating you the job front too.  With the end so close, some of our regular teaching sessions are coming to an end. This week we said a fond farewell to Jono McNeil who has been fantastic. Jono has been our vocal coach and has met on a monthly basis; he has really pushed us to warm up effectively and stretch ourselves vocally. So in true academy fashion we had…

BLOG #6: To the final term

Hero 2

APRIL 2012 Hey! I can’t believe how fast this academic year is going. A lot of our thoughts, prayers and conversations relate to the beginning of the next academic year. The question hanging over everyone is ‘what’s next’? In this blog I’ll update you on my recent activities and discuss what I could potentially be doing come September.  The most exciting news I have for you is that St Peters Bethnal Green (my placement church) have appointed me as their part-time worship pastor from May-July 2012. The previous worship pastor stepped down on Easter Sunday as previously arranged, so I have been filling in ever since. This has been a real answer to prayer because the…

BLOG #5: Songs & sights

New England Manager?

March, 2012 Hello hello! I hope that you’re well. Unfortunately, I wasn’t well a couple of weeks ago so at the time I was really concerned that I may have missed the Worship Central retreat. Thankfully, I was able to go and here’s a snippet of what we got up to… Last Wednesday, we all met up at a beautiful cottage in Sussex. In fact, it was so amazing that I had to take pictures for you (see right). We arrived at the cottage just after lunch -just in time for afternoon tea- where we were given an outline for the two days. Once we were all unpacked and ready to go we spent some time in…

BLOG #4: NEW TERM. NEW HOUSE.

Jam packed fiesta!

February, 2012 Hello and happy February! At last, we got past January. It seemed to last forever. I hope that you’ve been tucking into your pancakes tonight –for those who forgot, it’s Pancake Day. Here’s what I’ve been up to recently… The first guest for this term was none other than Matt Redman. He spoke to us about song-writing, general life and his time in America. He’s always been someone that I’ve looked up to so from that perspective it was amazing just to speak to him. He is an amazingly humble, gifted and Godly man. Great day! I’m well into my placement at St Peter’s Bethnal Green. So I now spend every Wednesday and…

BLOG#3: Home for Christmas

Home

January, 2012 HAPPY NEW YEAR! Isn’t it crazy how time flies? I think back to this time last year when I was settled in Warrington and amazed at what God was doing with IMPACT! This time around I’m preparing to head back down to London for term two on the Worship Central Academy. (Left: Me & ‘festive’ Alex) As the term was drawing to a close, we arranged a Christmas party at the start of December. It was amazing! There was music, food and of course ‘secret-Santa’. For those of you who are unfortunate enough to have never experienced secret-Santa here are three simple steps for next year: 1) Gather some friends (if you lack…

BLOG#2: Loving life in London

Me & Ben

November, 2011 HELLO AGAIN! Welcome to my second ever blog. I’ve learnt a couple of things this month: 1) My lack of organisation has not improved… 2) I’m really quite busy… 3) I shouldn’t be allowed to partake in Movember… EVER! (see right). I got so much stick for that you wouldn’t believe!   One of the main headlines from this month was that I left Wickes, and no, I didn’t get fired for being terrible at DIY. Whilst working and studying I monitored how much time I spent studying; I discovered that I only managed a couple of hours each week. Having prayed and considered my options I was reminded of the reasons why I came down to London…

BLOG#1: A great start!

Wayne & banana!

October, 2011 HELLO EVERYONE!! Sorry it’s been a while, but at last I’m getting in touch with you. I’ve been in London for about 8 weeks now. Since living away from home I have learnt loads of life-skills such as washing, ironing and cooking. I can now whip up a ‘mean’ jacket potato with tuna and cheese! Thank you for all the prayers; they have certainly been answered. God provided a job for me from the moment I stepped foot in London and I am now working part-time for Wickes. I’ve got to be honest, I am struggling a little though. It’s difficult being a DIY adviser when you don’t have a clue about DIY! So I regularly…
